Ich habe FileMaker Pro 10 in depth von Jesse Feiler nicht als erstes Buch Ã¼ber FileMaker 10 gelesen. FÃ¼r den Einstieg ist es aus meiner Sicht nicht optimal geeignet. Zwar kommen all die Kapitel, die in anderen BÃ¼chern (z.B. FileMaker Pro 10, The Missing Manual) vorkommen, ebenfalls vor, aber wo immer es um Details der praktischen Aspekte geht, ist das Buch recht knapp.FÃ¼r routinierte FileMaker Entwickler mag das richtig sein, fÃ¼r Einsteiger eher nicht.Die StÃ¤rke des Buches liegt aus meiner Sicht denn auch klar bei den fortgeschrittenen Konzepten. Man findet Hinweise und Aufstellungen dazu, was zu beachten ist, wenn man fÃ¼r eine Multiuser-Umgebung programmiert. Man findet Konzepte zur Rechte- und Skriptverwaltung. Viel detaillierter als in anderen BÃ¼chern wird auch auf FileMaker Pro 10 Server und Advanced Server eingegangen.Als Beispiel fÃ¼r die Themen, die ich nur in diesem Buch gefunden habe, mag z.B. folgendes herhalten: Wer evtl. schon mit anderen DBMS entwickelt hat und weiss, was es bedeutet, wenn eine Datenbank "ACID compliant" ist, der wird in diesem Buch zwar nicht alle Details aber doch gute Informationen darÃ¼ber finden, dass FileMaker 10 *nicht* ACID compliant ist, wie diesem Problem entgegengewirkt werden kann, u.Ã¤.m.Zusammenfassend hÃ¤tte das Buch die allgemeine EinfÃ¼hrung, die sowieso nicht so detailliert ist wie bei anderen BÃ¼chern, besser stark gekÃ¼rzt oder weggelassen. Es hÃ¤tte sich besser als echtes Buch fÃ¼r Fortgeschrittene positioniert und die entsprechenden, weiterfÃ¼hrenden Themen weiter akzentuiert.FÃ¼r ein eher fortgeschrittenes Publikum finde ich das Buch insgesamt gut.
